The Country Garden Showcase #22

Welcome to my garden friends...
After a few weeks of unseasonably warm weather we were hit by a powerful storm featuring strong winds and overnight freezing temperatures.  Most if my raised beds were covered by plastic and everything seems to have come through it okay.
I completed another week of hive inspections.  My youngest hive is developing well.  This frame is brand new and empty, but what makes me excited is the fact that the queen is moving up into the second brood box.  The lower box is already built out and full of comb and brood/honey.
I transplanted the last few of my home grown tomato plants into 1/2 gallon containers.  I plan to take them to trade at a local food swap soon.

In the rest of the yard, the blueberries are blooming
 Blackberry vines are growing
My chicks are growing like weeds
and the kids are here for a visit.
Mountain Country Nigerians
After lots of thought, today I put deposits on two Nigerian Dwarf doe kids.  They're due around my birthday in October and if they're born healthy, I'll be the proud Mama of two new little dairy goats in December.  It's time to start building their new home for that special day in December.  It feels like this year will bring many new experiences and challenges.  I am looking forward to them all.  Tonight as I write, I'm tired, but about as happy as I can be.  I hope your week was full of new and exciting experiences too and I hope you'll take the time to share with us. Thank you!

  3. Your garden looks so nice, orderly and pretty! Ours is so rustic, but functions. I'd love to have those wonderful row coverings. The goats will be so cute! I don't think there's a cuter thing than a baby goat face.

  4. Wow, you did a wonderful job raising those tomato seedlings! Mine always get so leggy, even with grow lights on them 16 hours a day.
