The Country Homemaker Hop #21

Welcome Friends!
“The homemaker has the ultimate career. All other careers exist for one purpose only - and that is to support the ultimate career.”

Are YOU a Country Homemaker?
Do you make nutritious meals from scratch, labor in a vegetable garden, or raise livestock? Do you do these things because of the love you share with your family and a desire to provide the best for your loved ones? If you answered yes to any of these questions, than like me, you must be a country homemaker and WE WANT YOU!

Please join us Wednesdays to share your homesteading pictures, recipes, animal husbandry, household wisdom, homemaking tips, crafts, ideas and stories with the country homemaking community.  Life is what we make it. Let's dig in and discover just what's been going on- on the country homestead this week?

This week I made progress in the garden, around the house, and in the kitchen too.  I got my dogs shaved down, the chicks yard has expanded again, and I am excited to note that all of my hives are thriving.  I did well queen checks on the newest two queens this afternoon and saw lots of solid capped brood and larva.  frames full of honey, and lots of new small worker bees.

My local homesteading group is getting together for our first food swap in a few weeks.  Tonight I am transplanting a few heirloom tomatoes and japanese eggplant for the event.  I will be sharing some jars of my red and green sauces too.  All that's left is to sew up a few half aprons or kitchen towels to swap and I'll be ready to go.

What have YOU been working on???

  2. I wish I was a Country Homemaker, but I'm in a suburb. Fortunately, that doesn't stop me from gardening and cooking from scratch. (Does raising 2 cats and an active pre-teen boy count as livestock?) Love your blog, even if it makes me think of selling my beloved home and moving to where I can raise chickens!
