The Country Homemaker Hop

Are YOU a Country Homemaker?
Do you make nutritious meals from scratch, labor in a vegetable garden, or raise livestock? Do you do these things because of the love you share with your family and a desire to provide the best for your loved ones? If you answered yes to any of these questions, than like me, you must be a country homemaker and WE WANT YOU!

Please join us Wednesdays to share your homesteading pictures, recipes, animal husbandry, household wisdom, homemaking tips, crafts, ideas and stories with the country homemaking community.  Life is what we make it. Let's dig in and discover just what's been going on- on the country homestead this week?

Let's re-cap last week's hop with a few memorable links...

Clint of the blog The Redeemed Gardener shared some lovely pictures of what's growing in his garden along side railroad tracks HERE.   I really like how he's growing potatoes in 5 gallon buckets.  I may have to try that next season.

Lisa of the blog The Way Grandmama Does It shared a great post full of insight and pictures of her new beehives during her most recent inspection HERE.  Way to go Lisa!

The REAL FOOD FORAGER blog hosted a Q & A with Jenny McGruther of The Nourished Kitchen about fermentation HERE.  If you're looking for common questions on the subject I recommend you check this post out.  I am very new to the topic, but I did manage to make up a few batches of lacto-fermented pickles last summer that the whole family enjoyed.  I hope to learn more this year, but I am not sure I can pull the Hubby along with me on this endeavor.

Kathy of the blog Moving on to the Past shared her plan for her new Excalibur food dehydrator.  What a fantastic investment in her family's future.  Congratulations Kathy.  I look forward to reading about all the new recipes and goodies you'll make this season.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to share what's been going on around the homestead.  I look forward to your next link.  Have a happy and productive week ahead.

  1. HI,
I shared a video/recipe for Preserved Moroccan Lemons and an article about what sustainable seafood really means. Also an article that highlights answers about fermentation by the expert!
