The Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop #140

Happy Friday!
What a week it's been!  I spent a day on the road traveling, spent a day checking out another stockyard preparing to bring home feeder cows, spent a few days working in the pasture prepping soil, and I spent the last 24 hours catching my breath after being treated to the announcement that I am going to be a GRANDMA!!!  Woohoo!!!  That's the BEST surprise I can imagine and I am still walking in the clouds about the announcement.

I am overjoyed.

Around the farm I also managed to try a few recipes that are new to me and I wanted to share how they went...
This panini is made with this bread
KING ARTHUR'S CLASSIC WHITE SANDWICH BREAD-
I have recently gone gluten free due to my thyroid health, but my hubby is not and he prefers wheat so I make both.

I've seen this recipe floating around in circles for a long time, but this week was my first attempt at it and I am very pleasantly surprised with the results.  It rises well, toasts perfect, cuts easy, and has a great flavor (I DID try it).  My husband who is a picky eater, says it's his favorite sandwich bread so far.  I made a copy for my cookbook.

I made this last night for my boys and they BOTH say it's the BEST pot roast they've EVER eaten.  I agree. It is delicious.  I tweaked it a bit.  lazy farmgirl that I am, I did not roast it in the over, I crock potted the whole thing after pan searing everything, even the red potatoes on high for 4 hours, for a 4 pound roast and it was amazing.

Well, enough salivating.  Have a GREAT week ahead Farmgirls.

Let's get HOPPING!
