FarmGirl Blessings to YOU

In spite of what we see and hear in the headlines these days, we are blessed to be alive.  Sometimes it's hard to feel appreciative of our blessings, or to even see them for that matter, when we watch our plans unravel or when a heatwave or gopher spoils the harvest.  To confirm this for that little naysayer in the back of my mind, I like to play a little game.  I call it Count Your Blessings and here's how it works...

I simply write myself a quick note; a reminder really, of all the things I have been blessed with in my life.  It always affirms my sense of purpose and helps me keep going on days when I feel overwhelmed by things beyond my control.  This week has seen such turmoil across our world.  I need a little encouragement to keep moving forward so I ask you to please join me as we Count OUR Blessings...

I am blessed to have the love of my husband Jerry.  He is very generous, kind and patient, and I need patient as I make lots of mistakes.  :o)  He is a good provider, has a steady hand and heart and he is always my best role model.
I am blessed to have the love of my son Jon and my daughter-in-law Sam.  They've grown up to become good, hard working, responsible people.  Their health is good, and they both have kind and gentle hearts.  I am so proud of them.
I am blessed by the support and comraderie of my many friends both local and in the online homesteading/farmgirl blog communities.  I learn so much from you all.  I gain insight from your tutorials and the courage to try new things by your many examples.  In many of you women I see great examples of grace and strength as well. THANK YOU!!!
I am so blessed to have my little suburban homestead.  My young hens are providing my family with fresh eggs daily, compost, and I confess I get so much pleasure watching them play around.  My honeybees have blessed my gardens, and my gardens have grown to produce so much more real FOOD than I ever expected possible on such a small plot of land.  It feels good to be able to eat the fruit of your labor, seriously.
I am blessed to be the daughter of a loving God that overlooks my many shortcomings and encourages me to continue to grow and learn.  In his word I find comfort from the turmoil of the world.  In his son, Jesus Christ I find peace and  acceptance and the knowledge that suffering will pass.

Well, now you know that I am so very blessed.  I wish many blessings for you too.  Please feel free to share YOUR blessings by leaving a comment at the end of this post.

  1. Heidi, you are a blessing to me. This post gives encouragement. You are so right we all have to stop from time to time just to see how much we are blessed and thank our Lord and Savior for them all.
