UFO ROLL CALL- MAY 2012

Welcome to the
UFO Roll Call Home Sewing Arts Party
This linky party will be open all month long to make sure everyone gets the chance to link up and share their new handmade creations.

Please plan to join in the fun by linking up posts and sharing images of the sewing and quilting projects you've been working on this month.

This is a great opportunity to finish up all those UFOs and to start new projects too.

This blog party is open to both quilting and domestic sewing projects and is a great place to show off your next homemade apron, your blue ribbon quilt, a newly completed cross-stitch, or that new flannel quilt tutorial.

Drumroll please!!!  My hubby Jerry volunteered to pick our April winning entry today- and the winner is Dolly of Dolly's Designs for submission #3 Making Aprons.

http://dollysdesigns.blogspot.com/2012/04/making-aprons.html
Thank you Dolly for sharing your lovely embroidered aprons.  They're absolutely beautiful!  Look at the adorable machine embroidery clothesline detail on the pocket.  I love it.  I really like the high contrast rose colored bias binding finish too.  It's so feminine.

http://dollysdesigns.blogspot.com/2012/04/making-aprons.html
Dolly has a great talent for color and texture.  Just look at the images of her home, The Hibiscus House.  Dolly could be a professional designer, she's that good.  She has MANY talents, have you seen her Dolly is Cooking food blog???  Don't do it unless you love good food because just one look and you'll be hooked, I was.  Dolly CAN cook too.

I am happy to call her friend.  I wish we lived closer so I could pick her brain sometimes... Congratulations Dolly!  You always contribute such pretty ideas. Thank you.

I enjoyed reading each of the April submissions so much.  Ann of Suburban Prairie Homemaker entered two adorable mug mat tutorials.

The adorable Easter egg mug mat above was inspired by a pretty Easter card, the tutorial can be found HERE and this pretty little posy "Primitive Flower Quilted Mug Mat"
http://www.suburbanprairiehomemaker.com/2012/04/tea-for-tuesday-primitive-flower-mug.html
whose tutorial can be found HERE.  For anyone that doesn't yet know, Ann is an incredibly talented crafter, quilter, sewer, teacher and designer.  I believe that she can make anything she sets her mind to create from scratch and she has another special gift that appeals to me.  Ann writes and demonstrates often complex information using words converting them into  in plain English for those of us (like lyself) that are pattern challenged.   plan and make it all new in her own style, beautifully.  I wish I could do a little of what Ann does.  She's an inspiration to me with every post.  Thank you Ann for sharing your talent and sunshine with all of us here.

Becky of Petticoat Junction shared a fantastic skirt she made by re-purposing a thrift store mini skirt and some new trendy ruffled fabric.

I love it.  It's so cute and summery.  I look forward to Becky's next post.

Thank you for participating and for sharing such fun projects.

SURPRISE- January UFO Roll Call WINNER #2

2- UFO ROLL CALL WINNERS!!!
Surprise.  That's right.  There are TWO winners for January.  Those of you that read my earlier post were kept in the dark about that, sorry, but I wanted to keep it a secret until we had the second winner and that required Michelle.

My sweet husband grew impatient.  He wanted to help so bad.  I couldn't tell him no so he drew the first winner, but my Michelle did eventually make it over here and she just pulled our last January UFO Roll Call WINNER.

The winner is linky submission #16Lynnie of Lame in Both Feet.
Congratulations Lynnie.

Michelle and I really enjoy your blog.  You will also be getting a lovely mini-quilt kit in the mail just as soon as you send me your mailing address.  My e-mail address is hgonzales8@bak.rr.com.  Let's get cracking on those February projects ladies.

January UFO Roll Call WINNER!

I hope you made progress on your sewing projects.  I did a bit, but I still have a few things to work on so it's back to work tonight.  We have lots of birthdays for the next few months in our family.  That will keep me busy sewing.  I sure enjoyed viewing everyone else's projects and the wonderful tutorials.  Thank you all for sharing your sewing projects.  Nothing inspires me more than enjoying someone else's beautiful handiwork.  Amazing work ladies. Mad skill.  (My niece tells me that is teenage code for you are talented.) Well, let's pick our January giveaway winner.

I have a lovely mini-quilt kit (above) that I will pop in the mail for the winner just as soon as they send me their mailing address.  These little kits are kind of neat.  They are small.  This one's only 15" x 15" but it contains the pattern, and the fabric for the top, backing, and binding.  What a fun little gift idea.  Wouldn't it be fun to design your own mini-kit pattern and "kit it" as gifts for sewing friends?  I think so.
As you can see, I have drawn up numbers for each entry.  The numbers correspond to your linky submission number on the blog.   My BFF Michelle was supposed to help me, but my wonderful husband Jerry was practically jumping up an down to draw the winner so he will be pulling the winning ticket for us. Thank you Jerry.  Sorry Michelle.  She'll understand, she knows my hubby... Here goes!  Drum roll.........
 Look at his face...
He was so excited to draw...  he could hardly contain himself.
He may not have grown up completely, but he's my boy and I love him dearly.  Silliness and all.   Ignore his icky fingers.  He tiled a wall yesterday and that dried them out.  The cuts are from making my next eagle project.

The January UFO Roll Call WINNER is #23.  Jill of the Braver Homes and Gardens blog.  Congratulations Jill.

On with the next UFO Challenge.  February is already live on the blog folks.  Let's get to work ladies.
